What Is The Holding Frames?
The Holding Frames is a healing arts project that brings people together to paint, write, and share care.
Each frame carries a message of hope to another community impacted by crisis.
A larger collaborative piece stays behind as a lasting reminder of connection.
Through art, we create space for grief, remembrance, and the possibility of healing together.
How The Holding Frames Work
Create with Communities
We bring people together to paint and share messages of care. At large community events, individual frames are created and a collective artwork remains behind — a lasting reminder of connection and resilience.
Deploy Hope in Times of Crisis
When another community faces crisis, Holding Frames are deployed immediately. These tangible symbols of solidarity arrive as an expression of care and support at a time when words are not enough.
Sustain Healing Over Time
With the support of partners and donors, we aim to provide up to three years of healing art programming at no cost to communities. Over time, local partners can choose to continue the work as affiliate chapters, ensuring healing grows from within.
Why It Matters
After crisis, grief and isolation can feel overwhelming. Art offers a way to express what words cannot—and to make care visible. Each frame becomes both a message and a connection: proof that no one heals alone.
The Holding Frames transform creativity into solidarity.
